‘John School’ is a specialized diversion program, which provides an alternative to court. If the client attends as directed, the charges against him will be dismissed and he will not have a criminal record. ‘John School’ is about education, choices and taking responsibility for actions. At ‘John School’ the client will learn about the law and the consequences of a
criminal record, learn about sexual health risks and the consequences and learn about the impact of the client’s behaviour on the people in his community, with an emphasis on family. The goal of the ‘John School’ Program therefore, would be to decrease recidivism and to increase knowledge, change attitudes and/or behaviours and to look towards having a safer community.
